I was at work and received a call from Bill Cormier who owns The Bird Store and More in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. Bill said there was a Golden Crowned Sparrow at the feeder by the store and asked that I put the word out on Massbird. Of course I did immediately and cursed the fact that I had meetings the rest of the day and worried the bird would leave. Luckily when I finally got there are 6:00 pm it was still there working the feeder with a small group of White-throated Sparrows. The next day it was gone. Such is birding.
