White-tailed Hawk

White-tailed Hawk

These photos were taken on a Massachusetts Audubon Society Birding Class trip to Westport, Massachusetts, and then diverted to Hadley after a White-tailed Hawk was reported there. The Hawk was found and identified by Scott Surner who we met at the site of the Hawk. It was the first White-tailed Hawk seen norther of Texas. The origin of this bird was doubted since it was found near a Falconry, however, the bird behaved wild and it or another White-tailed Hawk was subsequently reported first on Cape Cod and then in New Jersey.
