Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

Taken at South Quabbin Park near Belchertown, Massachusetts. This bird had a definite method to its madness. It would go from sign to sign and drum on it with its characteristic typewriter-like cadence. After drumming, it would look at the back of the sign for any bugs that were distrurbed by the racket and/or vibration.
