Over the past few years, a pair of Common Loons have unsuccessfully attempted to nest in the South Bay section of Wachusett Reservoir located in Boylston, Massachusetts. In 2009, the nest was constructed on a sandbar that was eventually covered with water due to heavy rain storms during June (
link to 2009 photos). In 2010, the pair is nesting on a raft designed for them, so their chances of success appear much better (
